Modeling, Numerics, Differential Equations Group

Lupe [1]

The Modeling, Numerics, Differential Equations Group arose in 2001 from the Functional Analysis and Numerical Mathematics Group.

Nowadays, the Modeling, Numerics, Differential Equations Group addresses in particular areas of differential equations, functional analysis, applied harmonic analysis, modelling, mathematics of data science, numerics, and optimization, both in research and teaching. For undergraduate and graduate students in mathematics, members of the group offer a wide variety of courses in the aforementioned research areas and act as advisors for theses. Moreover, they are responsible for many math courses for applied programs such as engineering.

The university-financed research is increasingly supplemented by research funded by other sources such as the DFG. Because of the large number of such projects granted to members of the Modeling, Numerics, Differential Equations Group, numerous new positions for young researchers are frequently offered by the group. Amongst others, the group is involved in several projects in the cluster of excellence MATH+ [2], the Berlin Mathematics Research Center,  as well as in numerous collaborative research projects, and is active in the   Berlin Mathematical School [3] (BMS).
