Prof. Grötschel has become President of the Berlin-Brandenburgische Akademie der Wissenschaften (BBAW) on October 1, 2015 and has retired from his position as President of Konrad-Zuse-Zentrum für Informationstechnik Berlin (ZIB) and Professor at the Institute of Mathematics at Technische Universität Berlin (TUB).
