Nonlinear Dynamics and Applications

Dynamical Systems play important role in many fields of applied mathematics and natural sciences. Examples are chemical reactions, planet motions, or neuronal dynamics. In this course, time-continuous and discrete dynamical systems will be introduced. First, such notions as equilibrium, periodic solutions, and their stability will be studied. Further, qualitative changes of dynamical systems with varying parameters (bifurcation theory) will be considered. Other topics are ordinary differential equations (geometric theory) and discrete maps.

This is part I of of the two-part lecture course. Part II will deal with more advanced topics of nonlinear dynamics.
