+++ Library services (as of October 25th, 2021) +++
Due to the global corona pandemic, only limited library services are currently available:

  • The use of the reading rooms for studying and working is currently possible: As of August 23, advance booking of workstations is no longer necessary. The specified time slots will no longer apply and free determination of the length of stay will be possible. The limited number of workstations will remain. Checking in and out with the library card on site is still necessary. You can check the occupancy rate of all TU libraries at the following link: https://services.ub.tu-berlin.de/platzbuchung/#/
  • Borrowing books is possible at the library. In order to reduce the time spent in the library, we recommend ordering in advance via the Knowledge Portal Primo. As pickup location you can choose between the Mathematics Library and the Central Library (VW-Bib, Fasanenstraße 88).
  • Also for short visits (less than 15 min.) you can just drop by.
  • A medical mask must be worn during the entire stay.
  • Current opening hours: Mon-Fri: 9:00 - 21:00, Sat-Sun: closed.
  • Returning books is possible in the Central Library, in the Mathematics Library, or at the gatekeeper's lodge in the Mathematics building by using a return box.
  • Scanservice is provided for our literature which is only available in paper form. We scan the required articles / chapters for you, you will receive a download link via e-mail. Please order scans via the Knowledge Portal Primo.

Textbooks for the summer semester

Tuesday, 27. April 2021

We have a special offer for all mathematics students in their first and second semesters. The most important textbooks for Analysis I and Linear Algebra I can now be borrowed from us in a prepared package for the entire summer semester. The bags are already filled. The extended loan period until 30.09.2021 saves additional trips during the pandemic to return or renew. One trip, all done, so to speak.

Included in the package are

  • Fischer: Lineare Algebra I + Exercise book
  • Liesen / Mehrmann: Lineare Algebra
  • Forster: Analysis I + Exercise book
  • Königsberger: Analysis I

The library team wishes you a good start into your studies!

New WiFi routers

Thursday, 08. April 2021

The reading rooms are still closed due to the Corona pandemic. When we are allowed to open again, faster W-LAN will be available. Last week, new routers were installed, so that working with the laptop via Eduroam will be even more comfortable.

Digital reading room paused

Tuesday, 06. April 2021

The digital reading room on Zoom, offered by the student team of the Math Library during the last months of the lockdown, will not be continued for the summer semester. We will pause from 6th of April until exam time, and will then restart the service if the "real" reading rooms have not yet reopened by then.

We will remain reachable by email, phone, and through our social media channels on Instagram and Facebook.

New acquisitions

Wednesday, 03. March 2021

Even though the library is still only open on a limited basis, we are working behind the scenes and constantly acquire new math books. You can find them in the usual place on our shelf for new acquisitions  - or in the knowledge portal Primo.

All books can be ordered, borrowed and picked up. If you have any special requests, please let us know here.

Digital reading room is open

Friday, 08. January 2021

Due to the Corona pandemic, the libraries are currently unable to offer workstations. The Mathematical Library is therefore reopening its Digital Reading Room, starting now, Mondays - Fridays 9:00 am - 4:00 pm.

A team member will always be available there to answer questions, you can work together in the "silent reading room" (mic off, camera on), and you will be provided with some "Bib feeling" from our rooms via live stream. Breakout rooms for homework groups are also available.

Hot water and free tea in the reading room

Wednesday, 02. December 2020

Since we air our rooms hourly through the windows, it can be a little uncomfortable on cold days. In order to improve the stay of our visitors, we now offer free tea bags and hot water at our service desk.

The tea is a donation of the Berlin Mathematical School. Many thanks for this!

Please bring your own cups / mugs. We do not give out disposable cups and for hygienic reasons we do not give out dishes.
