Migration of the preprint series of the Institute of Mathematics
Friday, 20. May 2022
Last year, a good 600 mathematics "preprints" from 1996 - 2020 were moved to the TU Berlin open access repository DepositOnce. The Institute of Mathematics' preprint series was discontinued at the end of 2020, so a new, long-term archive was needed for the articles that had appeared up to that point. The completed data migration ensures for the future that the many articles published in the series by the mathematicians of the Technische Universität Berlin will remain accessible. A brief overview of the project can be found on the University Library's blog "Publishing at the TU Berlin".
All mathematics preprints available in the repository can be found here.
Mask obligation
Tuesday, 19. April 2022
As of today, FFP2 masks are once again mandatory for all time spent in the library, including while working at the desk. Our reading rooms are intended to be available for everyone, also to those who are particularly at risk, so thoughtfulness is important to us. We want to provide a high level of protection for everyone, because you can only learn productively if you feel safe.
This arrangement also allows us to offer more seats again. As of now, our group study rooms Banach, Hilbert, Sobolev and Krylov on the balcony are available again.
3G proof is no longer required to visit the libraries. Nevertheless, we ask everyone to remain responsible and cautious, and to stay at home in case of symptoms and suspicion of infection with the Corona virus.
125th anniversary of the death of Karl Weierstrass
Saturday, 19. February 2022
125 years ago today, on February 19, 1897, the famous mathematician Karl Weierstrass died in Berlin. On the occasion of the anniversary of his death, we are showing a small exhibition in our reading room. Among other things, there are original transcripts (handwritten!) from his lectures in the 1870s. At that time, Weierstrass taught mathematics at the Königliches Gewerbeinstitut, which later became the Technische Universität Berlin. His collected works and biographies are available for browsing. And then there's Weierstrass's monster...
Access for external guests
Monday, 17. January 2022
Those who do not study at the TU Berlin can also work in our reading rooms. Either with a free library card issued by the University Library (link to application form) or with our own "GreenCard procedure". This requires filling out a paper handout with contact information each time you visit. Check-in is then done through assigned numbers. Important for each visit are further a 3G proof (vaccinated, recovered, tested), a medical mask (FFP2 recommended) and a deposit for the locker, e.g. a student ID from another university.
